acer 22 inch monitorStan Shih, a Taiwanese Electrical Engineer, founded Multitech in 1976 with four partners. They started out with about $30,000 in capital, and originally focused on microprocessor based development. In 1987 they changed the name Acer, and in 1988 they had their IPO. Thirty years after forming, they’re the 3rd largest computer manufacturer, and bringing in around 11.3 billion dollars. In August of 2007, they purchased Gateway computers. I haven’t had a lot of experience with their computers- but if they’re like their monitors then I will definitely be buying in the future.

I actually have three of these monitors in the house (it’s a long story, there’s his, hers and its- its being the treadmill which has a nifty computer courtesy of an idea from Dr. Joe. Anyway, the monitors all have a beautiful display and perform well. They are addictive however, every time you’re on a smaller screen you will miss the desktop real estate. For those of us that are a little older, the larger screen is very kind on the eyes. I found they work equally well or mounted on a swing arm (they have the industry standard mounting holes on the back, attached to a steady metal plate).
