AlpacaAlpaca wool is a true luxury fiber, and it’s popularity is growing for very good reason. It is warmer, lighter and stronger than wool, plus its fibers are semi-hollow, which makes it breathable, so you never get hot or sweaty wearing it.

Alpaca wool is not itchy to most people because strands of alpaca fiber are smooth, unlike sheep’s wool which has scales which catch the surface of the skin and feel prickly. Also Alpaca wool is hypo-allergenic because it contains no lanolin, which can trap dust and allergens.

All of this I know to be true, because now that the weather is colder, I live in alpaca slippers, and when I curl up on the couch to read I pull an alpaca throw over my legs. It keeps me toasty warm, it’s light and it just feels so soft and wonderful.

Forget cashmere –if you want a true luxury experience, try alpaca!
